What is An Affirmation and What Does It
Have to Do With the Law of Attraction?


“What is An Affirmation?” is a popular question these days because of the increased success of doing daily affirmations and practicing the Law of Attraction.   If you're new to this game...

You're in for a bit of fun....

And if you've been practicing daily positive affirmations for years and are just adding to your knowledge base, this article will give you a simple affirmation definition as well as talk about the process of doing daily affirmations as one of the main Law of Attraction techniques practiced today.

Affirmation Definition

If you do a search on the Internet to get a definition for an affirmation, you'll come up with a lot of different “dictionaries” agreeing that an affirmation definition falls somewhere around these two terms:

1.  The act of affirming that something exists or is true;
2.  A statement or proposition that is declared to be true.

So, in simple terms, you are basically “affirming” or “declaring” that something is trueYou do this all the time when you fill out a form with your mailing address and phone number...

You are affirming that your address and phone number are trueThis is easy to do because you have a “tangible” address and phone number which already exist in this world where you live.

But, asking, “What is an Affirmation” when talking about using it to invoke the power of the Law of Attraction is quite another story.

Law of Attraction Techniques

When practicing daily positive affirmations where you are “affirming” something to be true because you want to enlist the power of the Universe to “turn it into reality” still fits into the above affirmation definition...

But, the difference here is that what you are affirming does not already exist as we know it in this world where we live.

In fact, the whole reason many people practice personal affirmations is to convince their minds that something already exists so it will materialize in this world where we live.

Now, if I've lost you there, you're not alone.  This is where it gets confusing when people start out practicing daily affirmations because they are “affirming” something that doesn't already exist.

While this is one of the best law of attraction techniques, to achieve success with it, you've got to figure out how to feel the same way about the existence of whatever you are affirming...

As you feel when you are writing down your address and phone number.

It's the “belief and the feeling” that something already exists that gives all the affirmations on your list of affirmations the true power of the Universe to manifest the things that you desire.

How to Write Affirmations

So, now you see the difference between the feeling of having a tangible address that you are “affirming" or having to create in your mind the “feeling” of having something tangible that you are “affirming,” how do you write affirmations to do this?

When writing affirmations, the first thing to remember is to keep your affirmations positive and focused only on your desire.  So, if you want to lose weight, focus on becoming thin, rather than thinking about losing weight.

Secondly, you want to tangibly create your desire somehow in this physical world...

Like painting it, or...

Sculpting it, or...

Test driving it, or...

Creating it in physical form that you can “feel” like it really does exist because it's sitting right there in front of you.

Then, when writing affirmations around this desire, have your “replica” in front of you so you feel like it already exists, and see how your mind feels comfortable “affirming” it.

List of Affirmations

You can do these techniques for any personal affirmations on your affirmation list if you remember that you are affirming the existence of something and can find ways to trick your mind into believing that they do exist.


When asking, “What is An Affirmation,” remember that it is simply affirming something that is true, whether it already exists in the world where we live (like your address), or whether it is something that you wish to create through the Law of Attraction. 

To do it well, remember to keep your affirmations positive and focused on your exact desire and to find some way to create its existence in your world where you live today.
