Why Combine Them With Affirmations of Faith?


Many self love affirmations focus around loving yourself in a new way, but when practicing daily affirmations for better self love or self esteem, a better approach is to...

Combine your daily positive affirmations with affirmations of faith and trust.


Because instilling trust is a critical factor in making the positive phrases on your affirmation list work.

In fact, if you want a “better” affirmation definition, it should include trust as a vital element in making any words of affirmation effective.

Affirmation Definition

So, what is an affirmation?  It is a positive phrase that “affirms” or “declares” something that you want to instill into your mind.  Daily affirmations are practiced consistently so these positive phrases get absorbed by your subconscious mind and you can direct your life in an intentional fashion.

The usual affirmation definition, however, leaves out the “faith and trust” element, which is why I'm writing this article.

Affirmations of Faith and Trust

In fact, having the belief and trust that any affirmation on your list of affirmations will come true is absolutely essential to making the kind of change you desire...

And, yes, I hear you saying right now, “But, Suzanne, I'm doing daily positive affirmations just so I can change my beliefs.  Isn't that the point of doing daily affirmations?”

Well, yes it is...

And, no it's not... really.

It's more like the question, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?”

You see, when you are doing your self love affirmations, spiritual affirmations, self esteem affirmations, happiness affirmations, motivational affirmations or any other personal affirmations, you've got to “believe and trust” that the change is possible and that you've already “made the change” which you desire...

And this is where many people fall short of success with their daily positive affirmations.

List of Affirmations

If you really want to accelerate the success of your list of affirmations, then you want to include phrases such as:

I trust that I can....
I trust in the process that …
I believe this is possible.

In the case of self love affirmations, specifically, some positive phrases I like to include are:

"I trust myself to do my best."

"I trust in the process of what I am learning from my life."

"I believe that it is possible for me to love myself in better way."

"I easily forgive myself and trust my process."

"I trust myself to always act on my best behalf."

"I have compassion for myself in all that I do."

Words of Affirmation vs. Feelings

Once you start using the phrase “trust,” or if you prefer to use the term “faith,” then you must somehow find a way to instill the feeling of trust within yourself.

There are all sorts of ways to do this and you can experiment with finding a good way for you.  

The important thing to remember is that you have to work on an "energetic" basis, rather than on an "intellectual" basis to invoke strong physical vibrations or "feelings" from your body.

When you are practicing self love affirmations, self esteem affirmations or any other personal affirmations, remember to include affirmations of faith and trust so you are feeling that you already “believe” that it is possible to have a greater love for yourself and send out the vibration of “trust” to the Universe, to which it will respond quickly.
