Does Hypnosis Work?

When many people consider learning how to do self hypnosis, they usually ask, “Does hypnosis work?”

Yes, if you are “susceptible to it” and if you do it correctly.

Does that mean you have to take a self hypnosis test to find your susceptibility before you start? 

No, not necessarily, because whether you are susceptible to hypnosis before you begin any form of it, your susceptibility will change as you practice it longer and get better and better at doing it.

Self Help Hypnosis

Is self help hypnosis safer than seeking help from a professional hypnotherapist?

Yes and no. 

Yes, it may feel safer to learn how to do self hypnosis on your own because you are not revealing your problems to another person...

No, it may not feel as safe to get started because you're not so sure about how to do it.

But, with some good self hypnosis instruction and practice, you should be able to do self help hypnosis with more and more confidence.

Types of Hypnosis

Although self hypnosis is a type of hypnosis all on its own, there are many forms of hypnosis.

For example, there is something called “instant hypnosis” where you are “instantly” induced into a hypnotic state, but this usually takes certain training and preparation to perform this type of hypnosis.

How To Do Self Hypnosis

Now that you've been introduced to the field of hypnotherapy, let's venture into learning how to do self hypnosis.

Here are a few steps to take:

First, you'll want to find some good self hypnosis instruction that helps you find your limiting beliefs that are stopping you from reaching your potential.

Secondly, you'll want to learn how to “flip” these beliefs from negative (accidentally programmed) beliefs into positive (intentionally programmed) affirmations.

Third, you'll need a quiet place where you can go consistently to practice your hypnosis.  Keeping the time and place consistent helps you build a pattern.

Fourth, you'll want to use either some self hypnosis scripts or a self hypnosis audio to actually put you into a state of hypnosis.

Fifth, you'll need to learn how to write affirmations (or suggestions) that you can input when you're hypnotized; and

Sixth, you'll want to include a self hypnosis script that “wakes you up” at the end of your session.

Self Hypnosis Sleep

One of my favorite times to input new suggestions into my subconscious (which is what you're doing when you learn how to hypnotize yourself) is when I'm sleeping.

There are various ways to do this, but the easiest way is to play an audio recording of positive affirmations as you go to sleep at night.  This is a good time to do this because your brain is moving through the theta brainwave state, which has been shown to be a good state of mind to absorb affirmations.

My favorite way to do this is to use a silent subliminal self hypnosis audio that plays all night while I sleep.  I make my own and have had amazing results from doing this sort of self hypnosis in my sleep.

How to Hypnotize Yourself

When you're learning how to do self hypnosis, the important thing to remember is to be sure to find your limiting beliefs that have been “accidentally” programmed into you, learn to flip them into positive affirmations and then put yourself into a state of hypnosis so you can easily absorb these new ideas.
