Do Personal Affirmations Work
and What Are They?


Personal affirmations have become very popular since the movie, The Secret, but do they really work and what exactly are they?  Sometimes called daily affirmations, they are simply...

Words of affirmation that you repeat to yourself enough that your mind starts to “believe them.”

They come in different “sizes and flavors,” but overall are self affirmations that describe “you” at a future date when you've “attained” whatever it is that you are currently telling yourself is possible through continually repeating these positive words and phrases.

Affirmation List

In my "List of Affirmations" article, I give a list of affirmations that I found when doing research for these articles.

Although, I'd like to repeat that list on this page for your convenience, the search engines consider it "manipulation," so take a moment and review that list of affirmations by clicking this link, then click the back button and I'll be here waiting for you...

After reviewing that list, you can see that there's an "affirmation for everything..."

All of the phrases on that list could also be called “personal affirmations” as the terms are synonymous because any daily positive affirmations that you practice are “personal” to you.

Words of Affirmation vs. Action

So, does practicing these positive phrases, which you can see come in lots of different “flavors,” work? 

In a nutshell, yes...

If you “size them appropriately” and do them with feeling and action.

Action is required because if you merely recite prosperity affirmations, health affirmations, motivational affirmations or other positive phrases for change without taking any tangible action, you're bound to get frustrated.

Feeling is required because without “feeling prosperous,” your affirmations for abundance and prosperity don't carry a good “charge..”

And the same is true with any of your other daily positive affirmations because you have to feel the emotions behind them before they can really work.

Writing Positive Affirmations

When writing positive affirmations, you want to be sure to “size” them appropriately

What do I mean by that?

I mean that if you “go for the gusto” and think too big...

That your conscious mind will say, “Are you kidding?  Who are you fooling?” and put up a lot of resistance.

Instead, what you want to do when writing positive affirmations for your affirmation list is to “notch them up” a little at a time and make them “believable for you.”

To do this, simply think a “little bit bigger than where you are now.” 

When you attain that, think a “little bit bigger than you are then,” and so on.


As you can see, personal affirmations are simply daily positive affirmations that help you “re-program yourself” to believe that you can attain something new in your life.

By choosing the right ones for you and keeping them moderately sized up, you can make change happen quickly and easily.
