About Self Hypnosis

Self hypnosis, or otherwise called autosuggestion is not that complicated to do – but it can be a bit tricky because you need to really calm your body, open your mind, and tap into your subconscious.

The tricky part, I'll tell you upfront, is knowing the correct affirmations and positive thoughts to program into your mind.  Many people program in just the opposite of what they desire, simply because they don't know how to correctly write affirmations.

Also, suggestibility varies from person to person.  So taking a self hypnosis test is a good idea to see how well self hypnosis will work for you.

But this quick induction has a very safe affirmation and regardless of your suggestibility, you should gain benefit from it.

Induction - Get Quiet

Here is a great start for your online free self hypnosis journey:

STEP ONE

First, find a spot, something like your own favorite nook that's quiet and makes you feel comfortable. Sit in a chair or on a couch. Make sure that you’re comfortable enough, but don't lie down.  Sit with a straight spine.

Be sure that no one will disturb you for at least half an hour. I usually put up one of those “Do Not Disturb” signs.

STEP TWO
Second, close your eyes. Feel free - set your mind and your body free. Don't think of anything, forget any problems and set aside worries. Do not force these negative thoughts and feelings out, however.

Just sit still, and let all thoughts slip away like letting a balloon fall from your hand.

Induction - Become Relaxed

STEP THREE
Feel how your body feels. Be sensitive to the “reverberating” tension of your muscles from your toes to your head. Then slowly, one by one, let go of the tension.

Let your muscles relax and let your cells take some rest. Make your body feel like it’s floating. It’s as light as a feather...

Floating in the air…as light as a feather.

STEP FOUR
Take a deep breath...

Slowly release the air out through your mouth...

Breathe in…

Breathe out...

Feel the oxygen inside your lungs. Feel the air going inside your nostrils, and going out of your lips.

Create Visualization and Affirmation

STEP FIVE
Now that you are relaxed, imagine that you are at the top of a building...

Then you start coming down through a flight of 10 white, cemented stairs.

You go down, each step at a time...

One step, and another…

Vividly imagine the texture of the stairs, the cool cement against your warm feet…

Then at the end of the stairs, you go down to a pool of water. But this pool is different, it is not enclosed, it extends up to the ocean. And the water is so clear at your feet, and then it slowly becomes bluer and bluer...

And then you keep walking. You can see the vastness of the ocean...

And you just keep walking. You feel the splash of the water on your feet. And then it goes up as you are submerging yourself. As you continue to go deeper and deeper, imagine yourself being slowly under water. Your heart skips a beat as the cool water encompasses your subdued body. You feel safe. You feel relaxed.

STEP SIX
Now all you feel is relaxed and afloat. At this point, positively think of what  you want to do and how you want to do it. 

Picture that there are two boxes in front of you. You walk toward them. Then as you get to the first box, you open it. A bright light shines in front of you. You feel the light - it’s warm and precious.

The light fills your heart with love.

And you repeat to yourself:

“I am strong and lively. I am a beautiful woman. I am positive. I am successful.”

or

“I am strong and lively.  I am a handsome man.  I am positive.  I am successful.”

Repeat this over and over again as you go on to the second box and find the same illuminating light and repeat the process.

Wake Up

STEP SEVEN
When you are satisfied with what you’ve done, it's time to return home...

Go back to the clear water of the pool...

Go back to the stairs...

Again, feel the cold cement against your warm feet. As you go higher and higher up the stairs, feel like there’s something heavy on your chest.

Repeat the words:
“I am strong and lively. I am a beautiful woman. I am positive. I am successful.” 

OR

“I am strong and lively.  I am a handsome man.  I am positive. I am successful.”

Then as you reach the final step . . . feel the completeness in you.

STEP EIGHT
Give yourself a few moments to just breathe and then open your eyes, slowly. Imagine that you are opening a door, and the light from the outside world is coming through.

Slowly count up 1, 2, and 3…

Say: “I’m awake.”

Your mind should be back to its conscious state.
