Some people think it's important to find out your “emotional quotient number” before embarking on improving your emotional intelligence skills. But this actually isn't a requirement or absolutely necessary at all.
In fact, once you get that number, it may do just the opposite of motivating you to improve emotional intelligence because you may think, “What's the use?”
Well, never fear....
Whether you've already gotten that low emotional intelligence score or not, you can definitely improve your emotional intelligence (also called EQ) skills.
Unlike IQ (intelligence quotient), EQ has been proven to be very responsive to improvement.
So, let's look at four categories of resources to enhance your EQ:
If you're new to the whole EQ game, a great way to start improving EQ is by taking an emotional intelligence free test and then using that test as a guide for developing your emotional intelligence skills...
Which, by the way, also develops the portions of your brain to support a higher level of emotional intelligence skills.
Since I've already written an article that includes this test, as well as guidance on how to use it as your own personal development course for development emotional intelligence, go ahead and click here to read that article. Then when you're done, click the back button and I'll be waiting here for you...
Now that you've taken the emotional intelligence test that I supplied, now let's move onto looking at other ways for improving your EQ.
One of the fastest ways, of course, is to read a lot of articles on emotional intelligence.
Because once you have a better undrstanding of the subject overall, you'll naturally be attracting ways to enhance your EQ through your subconsicous.
Also, articles give you a look at the same subject from many different angles, versus how the subject is laid out in book format.
I've written quite a few articles on emotional intelligence which can be found linked to my article, “What is Emotional Intelligence?” If you want to read that article, as well as have a list of more articles on emotional intelligence, here's the link for that article.
Although an emotional intelligence article can give a lot of information, ordering an emotional intelligence book can add a nice overview to your emotional intelligence review if you find one that simplifies the subject.
A couple of good books on EQ are: The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves and Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. I've already done a review on the quick book, which you can read by clicking here.
Taking a test and reading some articles first while you're waiting for your EQ book to arrive can be a good approach to improving your emotional intelligence skills.
But, let's look at one more simple way to improve EQ.
One method that I like to use whenever I am seeking personal change is to use self hypnosis, which is a very powerful tool because it makes change within your subconscious mind, which is “operation central.”
A great way to get started on this method is to find a good hypnosis download for improving emotional intelligence. I've found a good resource for you. Click here to learn more about that download...
Ask yourself this simple question, “Is Emotional Intelligence Important enough to spend focused energy on for its improvement?”
If your answer is yes, then all you have to do is to decide to make a conscious effort to become more aware of what you are thinking about and how you feel about it.
Is it really that simple, Suzanne?
You see, when you shift your awareness from “automatic” to “conscious” by deciding to become aware of what you are thinking and feeling, you have made a great shift in how your mind and body operate.
And the good news is that the more you “think about your thoughts and feel your feelings at the same time,” you are building new neural pathways in your brain between your emotional brain and your rational brain, which is essential for having high emotional intelligence skills.
In fact, it's been shown that if you are not accessing both of these “brains” together, you will not have high EQ.
If you want to improve your EQ, start with a simple emotional intelligence free test which gives you a guide for ways to practice enhancing emotional intelligence within yourself.
As you become more used to working with emotional intelligence practices, your brain will help you by building new neural pathways between the two necessary parts of your brain that are necessary for high EQ.
Also, another simple and efficient way of changing your thoughts and behaviors around EQ is to use hypnosis, which is one of my favorite methods for making change occur within myself.
By studying books and articles on emotional intelligence, you can continually develop your awareness of the emotional intelligence theory and be able to come up with your own ways of improving emotional intelligence.
But, it all starts out with your commitment and desire to make change. Here's more on that self hypnosis download for improving emotional intelligence...
